Objective - Design a central arts hub for the Oakwood community that supports various artistic activities while fostering a sense of connection and accessibility.

Approach - The project features a solid concrete base on the first floor, providing sound insulation for music and dance studios, while the lighter wood-framed second floor offers an airy, open space for fine arts and an elevated viewing platform into the dance studio. The courtyard design balances privacy and public engagement, with access tunnels linking the public sidewalk to the inner courtyard, encouraging community interaction.

Result - The Oakwood Community Center for the Arts became a versatile and welcoming space that supports a range of creative pursuits. The design effectively balances the need for both open, light-filled spaces and private, sound-insulated areas, creating a vibrant hub for the community to gather, learn, and create.
