Objective - Redesign a Vietnamese shophouse to better integrate its commercial and residential spaces, improving privacy, ventilation, and natural light while maintaining the traditional architectural character.

Approach - I took inspiration from the surrounding architecture and reimagined the facade using modern brise soleils, which extend the full height of the building. This design allows for greater control over privacy, sun shading, and airflow, creating an internal courtyard that brings natural light and ventilation into all levels of the residence while seamlessly connecting it to the public commercial space on the ground floor.

Results - The revised design transformed the shophouse into a cohesive, multifunctional space that enhanced the living environment for residents and improved the functionality of the commercial area, all while respecting the cultural and architectural context of the building.
